On this page you can find some information about the best places to visit if you're a music lover on a trip to York! I'm always interested in suggestions of new places to include so if you can think of anywhere then please get in touch!
Rebound Records is an excellent independent record shop on Gillygate. It is one of those great record shops where the staff remember your musical tastes and will offer suggestions, put albums aside for you and try to get albums which you like. Even more uniquely, they have a very large stock of jazz albums on CD and vinyl and you will always find something interesting. Every time I go in, I'm sure to leave with a nice selection of jazz, blues, pop and rock albums! Definitely worth visiting for any jazz fans in the city.
Earworm Records is a relatively recent but very welcome addition to the city. A very cool little record shop tucked in an alleyway off Goodramgate, Earworm specialise in vinyl records in a variety of genres (including jazz). There are also a small selection of CD's, cassettes and books. The staff are very friendly and the shop has a great atmosphere. It's one of those places that you don't want to leave once you've started browsing through the vinyl. I can't imagine that there are many shops like this left in the country and it's great to have one here in York.
Vinyl Eddie is located on Tadcaster Road near York Racecourse. York's newest record store has an impressive collection of vinyl from across the music spectrum including a great selection of jazz, blues, funk and soul records. You can even get a cup of coffee and a snack while you flick through the vinyl. Well worth the short trip from the city centre and there is on street parking near by. Not to far to walk with your haul of records!
