The National Centre for Early Music is based in the Medieval Church, St. Margaret's on Walmgate. The centre was opened in April 2000 and won many conservation awards. The charity offers a diverse range of music and runs the successful York Early Music Festival amongst other events. The centre presents a variety of jazz gigs throughout the year ranging from solo pianists to big bands.
