York Music Forum Jazz Orchestra

The fantastic York Music Forum Jazz Orchestra is raising money to record an album and you can help them by pre ordering a copy! There is plenty of info below and a link to the donation site.

'We are the York Music Forum Youth Jazz Orchestra and we want to record an album by the end of Summer term 2016.

To do this we need to raise £500 to cover the cost of a professional recording engineer and to rent a suitable recording space (not a recording studio... could never afford that!) and to create CDs.  We will sell the CDs to allow us to buy some decent big band music stands. We'll also use the recording to try and get on the bill of jazz festivals in the north of England.

I'll mix and master the recording (for free obv!) and we'll create something very professional-sounding indeed.

Basically, we want you to buy your CDs in advance.... £10 secures you a CD!

We don't receive any funding to run the Jazz Orchestra... rehearsal sessions are paid for by those who are in it or by their parents.

Please help us and we'll be ever so grateful!'

David Preston, Kevin Glasgow & Laurie Lowe are three of London's most creative young instrumentalists. Their music is a mash-up of relentless rhythmic energy, harmonic dystopia, and virtuosic improvisations.

Expanding the format of the guitar trio with intricate and unique compositions, they draw influence from an expansive array of styles, whilst maintaining a focused original sound.

Set to release their debut album on the internationally acclaimed Whirlwind Recordings, they will embark on an extensive UK tour early 2016.

Quartet show, trio on piano, bass and drums – Saturday 12th September @ Fallfest, Glusburn, North Yorkshire, BD20 8PJ
7:30pm - Headlining Fallfest 2015
Tickets £22 - £33 http://www.fallfest.co.uk/tickets/online-booking/
As much as she thoroughly enjoys fronting her Big Band or her Hollywood Orchestra, or presenting her weekly show on BBC Radio 2, award winning jazz singer Clare Teal still revels in performing in more intimate venues. Getting close to an audience is a thrilling experience for Clare. She engages in a wonderful musical (and often spoken) conversation with the audience and they in turn feel that they really have witnessed something personal and very special.
The music played in these shows is always evolving, from The Great American and British Songbooks to the music made popular by her heroes, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day and Peggy Lee to more contemporary covers and original material Clare loves to create a melting pot of styles and genres, but all sung in her inimitable style.
Beautiful melodies, fabulous arrangements and all interspersed with Clare’s warm and witty story telling.
The duo shows are sung and performed by Clare with piano accompaniment only, and at her quartet shows Clare will be backed by her excellent trio on piano, bass and drums.
You will experience a dazzling evening of exquisite melodies sung by one of the UK’s greatest interpreters of song.
